Траш легендите от Сан Франциско EXODUS ще влязат в студио в началото на април, за да започнат записите по новия си албум. Наследникът на миналогодишния "Tempo of the Damned" се очаква през есента от Nuclear Blast Records. Албумът отново ще бъде продуциран от Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, ARCH ENEMY, NEVERMORE), а в него за пръв път за бандата ще пее новият вокалист Rob Dukes.

Някво ревю на албума, на което попаднах:
Цитат I always thought that sweet lady fortune deserved a severe back alley beating for not putting EXODUS into the Thrash "Big 4" (Hell, it should have been the "Big 6" to squeeze in TESTAMENT…). EXODUS seemingly had everything going for them, the METALLICA family connection, almost perfect timing atop the crest of the first Thrash breaker and an arsenal of riffs to die for. Primarily because they weren't swept along in that first big wave EXODUS wallowed around in the resulting flotsam for far too long. That meant dysfunction, label changes, membership changes and a generally rocky road to be travelled. Still, EXODUS stuck it out and delivered some fine, fine records along the way. So, they bounced back with 2004's 'Tempo Of The Damned', polarising opinions as only true art can do, then immediately hit tribulation again. Thankfully though the band just kept on steamrollering ahead, pulling in new personnel, relative unknown Rob Dukes and the sorely (up 'til now) Lee Altus of HEATHEN and DIE KRUPPS on guitar. On drums? Paul Bostaph - yes, that Paul Bostaph of SLAYER. 'Shovel Headed Kill Machine' is the title of their 2005 opus and the name of the record tells you everything you need to know about the contents. That album cover visualises precisely the musical carnage within. Look mommy - the big evil machine is crushing skulls!! This is pure Thrash from start to finish. No effects, no samples, no interludes, no segue ways - just Thrash, Thrash, Thrash. What you need to know though is how does new boy Rob Dukes compare to the EXODUS legends of Baloff and Souza? Eschewing the scratchy psychosis that often dominated antecedent EXODUS product he has his own style, that's for sure, but fans will be happy. Duke is aggressive, venomous and yet clued in enough to lace his lines with enough melody to retain interest in the song and, an important asset far too often overlooked, his clarity of diction is excellent, despite the fact you can hear exactly what muscular torture is going on in the back of his throat. That means that when he's spitting, raging and frothing you can still understand every word he vents. Good stuff indeed. Riff wise, 'Shovel Headed Kill Machine' is right up their with the best of the EXODUS catalogue. It's as hooky as it is unrelenting. Solos are sharp, precise, inventive and plentiful, whilst the bass is blessed with a disturbing twang. The riffs wrap you in razorwire cocoons then simply constrict those coils to deny any foolish thoughts you might have had about hitting the 'stop' button. This album is strictly a one way journey with no diversions - you start at 'Raze' and get off, exhausted, numbed and bloodied, at the last drop of the title track, all 10 tracks giving you the most violent rollercoaster ride of your life on the way. Regular albums provide the reviewer enough peaks and troughs of quality and mood along the way to flesh out a critique but this sucker simply keeps on peaking again and again - the metronomic 'Shudder To Think', 'Altered Boy', 'Now Thy Death Day Come' and the bass-birthed behemoth of 'Deathamphetamine' are purely Thrash of the highest magnitude. The album benefits hugely from a sparkling production and mix, not once does the intensity of sound override the locked in groove of the proceedings. EXODUS are truly resurrected. Highly recommended.
