Шведските прогресари PAIN OF SALVATION са готови с новия си албум - "Scarsick". Той ще бъде издаден от InsideOut Music в края на януари, няколко седмици преди началото на европейското турне на бандата. Акбумът е концептуален, с обща продължителност на песните от 67 минути. Много истерично започнаха да го дават... "Scarsick" не може да се сравнява с първите им неща. За сравнение в "BE", който също беше крайно експериментален, имаше много повече целенасоченост.

Мене ме хвана още от първата минута. Явно с Daniel Gildenlow сме разчленени сиамски близнаци...

Доста стара темичка, но да не отварям нова ще съживя тази.
Най-слабият им албум според мен (то след RL се сбозиха тотално). Рап, ню метъл... и това трябва да е продължението на The Perfect Element. Има и добри моменти, но още от първото слушане този албум ме потресе с посредствеността си.

The live DVD was mixed and mastered this week. Now it's time for commentary tracks and bonus material...

"The DVD is starting to come together, and will consist of two separate discs - one will be the live show from our last tour, and the other one will be a documentary following the band on the 2005 tour, which marked the end of that line-up. The fact that the band has seen such major changes the last two years made it very difficult emotionally to invest time and energy in this product, and it wasn't until the documentary draft was proposed by Per Hillblom that I started to see what this DVD was trying to communicate. We still have a few commentary tracks to record but we are starting to see the end of it."

"We are starting to get a grasp of the tons of material that I have been working on in my head. My vision is that the next album will be recorded in our rehearsing room, and we have started to prepare ourselves and the rehearsing room for this. The material that I am focusing on for the album at the moment, is some sort of cross breed between the heavy early 70s in the vein of Sabbath/Zeppelin and the dark weirdness of Faith no More/Soundgarden together with a touch of fragile suggestiveness displayed by The Doors/Jeff Buckley. Add some energetic Foo Fighters and you will start to get the picture..."

Съгласен съм. BE ме разочарова с това, че съдържаше най-слабите неща на групата до тогава, но също така в него бяха и едни от най-красивите им композиции (повечето развалени с посредствени и ненужни пасажи за съжаление), но Scarsick тотално разби представите ми за групата. Повръща ми се като си помисля, че това е TPE 2.

2008 edited version of scarsick, with alternative edits of all songs and two extra new tracks.

Daniel: "I had this idea about making edits where all of the songs would clock in under 5 minutes each. My absolute first idea was to make a radio edit version of the album, where every song would simply be cut at precisely 3:50 or something, except for the track America, in which we instead would add like 10 minutes of commercials after the "We'll be back after this short break!" phrase. But once I was sitting down with the tracks it became sort of a challenge. Some of the songs I prefer in the original version, but some (like Idiocracy and Mrs Modern Mother Mary for instance) really turned out more like I initially intended them to be, and I prefer them. Also, I could use my original idea for an intro to the album - it was scrapped for the official release since I felt it gave away the TPE1 link way too soon. The Slipsync track uses recurring themes, a trademark POS conceptual instrumental passage, and was originally thought as a Japanese bonus track, but then it felt more right on this edited album version, called SCARSICKER.
