Историята на Twin Obscenity започва през една далечна зима на 1991 година, когато вокалът, китарист и клавирист Atle Wiig среща басистът Jo-Arild Toennessen и барабанистът Knut Naesje. След няколко демо записа те преминават от Дуум-дет в по-величествената атмосфера на блек метъла. Издават 3 дългосвирещи албуми и през 2001 година групата се разпада.

Произход на името на групата "Twin Obscenity":
Zhar, the Twin Obscenity, dwells in a dead city, buried under the Plateau of Sung in China. There are two equally titanic monsters there. Possibly Zhar possesses two bodies, connected by long expanses of tentacles. The name lloigor is persistently associated with that of Zhar, and this second mammoth named Uoigor, or the lloigor, may simply be tied to Zhar as worshipers or exploiters. The Tcho-Tcho people inhabit the Plateau of Sung, and are known to worship Zhar.

Доста добра група, но за жалост вече несъществуваща. Най-добрият им албум според мен е Where Light Touches None (1997) с песни като Dark Millenium's End, Like The Death Of A Sorceress и Tribute To Mortality.
